I think this stanza of "O Jesus, I Have Promised" aptly describes what the situation is like now for us - the world is ever near us; the sights of this world dazzle and makes us want to go for what it has to offer. Our foes are truly ever near us - be it the secret thoughts that we may have in our hearts that no one else knows except for ourselves and God, or the many many temptations from the world coming from societal culture or peer influence.
May God draw near each of us and be within our hearts to shield our souls from sin, so that we may know what He wants us to do and may carry it out. And may He be our Strength and Guide so that we will not fall to societal culture or peer pressure but instead abide by His will.
O Jesus, I Have Promised (2nd stanza)
O let me feel Thee near me - the world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle, the tempting sounds I hear;
My foes are ever near me, around me and within;
But Jesus, draw Thou nearer, and shield my soul from sin.
我既生存在世间,容我与主相近;
我见迷乱的景物,听见诱惑声音;
今生身外和心内,常有仇敌相侵;
但望耶稣和我亲,将我灵魂保存。

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:2
